Try to add a CTA(call to action) in the shorts video to get high conversion rate, because the description of youtube shorts is not likely to get more views.

Go with only one single niche with a high market audience like tech gadgets because these videos are interesting to watch by viewers. Of course, the commission is less but sales are high.

I don't think youtube shorts are effective to promote any kind of product...
because it is a structure in way for entertainment and drives traffic to your main channel and attracts new viewers towards your main channel...
Of course, I do agree because they are not a targeted audience and they don't have the intention to buy the product or service but in shorts, you get a lot of traffic to your channel. By that, you can gain watch time and subscribers. If you upload a video, they do watch your videos as they are already subscribed.
It's an ecosystem where we get an audience from all the available resources.
