The importance of choosing a niche, and how to approach picking one.

However, one of the challenges that face every new blogger is deciding their niche. A niche is a very specific segment of the market for a very specific product or service. Choosing a niche is somewhat tricky because no matter what your blog’s topic is, odds are someone somewhere is already writing about it. Simply put: the market is oversaturated.

Being specific is important for several reasons, including but not limited to:

  1. Targeting a specific audience.
  2. Limiting your competition.
  3. Sounding more like an expert (or being more credible).
  4. It Enhances brand awareness.

All these benefits and more make it seem ever so essential to be picky when choosing your niche. But the question remains:

How do you select your niche?

For starters, when choosing your niche, I recommend you go for something that piques your interest. Of course, it’s not obligatory to like the niche you choose, but it will be easier for you to write about a topic that interests you.

Also, It would be best to consider the popularity of the niche you choose and the amount of competition you’re up against.

Finally, When trying to pick a niche for your blog, it’s best to be VERY specific. For instance, you might be interested in computers and electronics, but obviously, “computers and electronics” is too broad a topic to be considered a niche. So, you might want to be more specific and, as an example, go with “Gaming computers and Gaming electronics;” you’re almost getting the idea, but this is still too broad. So, let’s give it one more shot and say you want to go for “Gaming computers and gaming electronics for streamers.” So, I hope the idea is becoming apparent that it’s essential to be as specific as possible and try to go the extra mile and choose what is known as a micro-niche.

Thank you for reading! I hope this post was at least a bit helpful.

Best of luck on your journey!
