When a video get viral it doesn't happen through tags it happens through suggestions

Of course, they are important, that is why I don't suggest you to stop using it.
In term of getting traffic I think it will only get you 2-5% that is why @hassanraza said they are not good.

You have explained everything so well and perfect. I have never use hashtag on youtube and i don't know what are its uses. I have use hashtag in instagram . Once i have added hashtag on youtube but it has given no use to me. I think hashtags are less important in youtube..
